This position will support the NGD (Next Generation Desktop) contract.

The Infrastructure Architect Sr designs and defines reference infrastructure architectures and components.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Recommends new technologies based upon business value drivers and return on investment; drives new technologies towards implementation and exploitation.

  • Establishes overall platform architecture vision and ensures specific components are appropriately designed and leveraged; contributes to the holistic vision of infrastructure hosting architecture.

  • Creates the construction of infrastructure architecture components.

  • Establishes overall infrastructure architecture vision and roadmap that ensures specific components are appropriately designed and leveraged.

  • Defines infrastructure architecture standards that are in-line with customer, IT and industry standards.

  • Directs projects to identify data center hosting technology and architectural standards, guidelines, principles, frameworks, and reference models.

  • Competently contributes technical expertise to enterprise programs and projects; evangelizes architecture and technical strategies, and influences project and program direction toward enterprise technology standards and architectures; is able to escalate non-conformance to appropriate governance bodies.

Qualifications

Requires:

  • an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 5 years experience in architecture/design in relevant technology disciplines; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred:

  • Experienced in defining infrastructure strategies and roadmaps, architecture design and implementation of infrastructure and automation solutions.

  • Proficiency in creating architecture documentation, cloud concepts, core data center technologies (compute, storage, and network), and VoIP infrastructure.

  • Strong understanding of application architecture, containers (Kubernetes, Docker, etc.), and DevOps around Continuous Integration & Delivery

  • Experience in designing and implementing highly regulated environments from a security and compliance perspective. Preferably Federal government experience.

  • History of designing and implementing fault tolerant hosting environments spanning multiple data centers for disaster recovery.

  • Experience with automation and orchestration of infrastructure operational processes using VMware vRealize, Ansible, or Scalr

  • Proven ability to assist in providing technology analysis, recommendation and business case development for modernizing legacy technologies and data center hosting architectures.

  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to facilitate cross-functional teaming.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.

  • Knowledge of main hypervisors (VMware, Hyper-V) and network virtualization (NSX, etc.)

  • Familiar with main operating systems (Linux and Windows) and middleware (appservers, webservers, databases and others)
