The Business Information Developer Director is responsible for developing and executing more complex business information analyses at an expert level. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Establishes and maintains advanced knowledge of data warehouse database design, data definitions, system capabilities, and data integrity issues.
Designs, develops, and maintains the semantic data layer/data models required to support strategic reporting and analytics applications across the different business units in Carelon.
Develops extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) logic and packages to support strategic reporting and analytics.
Develops very complex and varied strategic report applications and analyses from the Carelon digital data warehouse.
Establishes and communicates common goals and direction for the analytics and analytics support team.
Develops and supports very complex Data Warehouse-related applications and analyses for business areas requiring design and implementation of database tables.
Provides direction, training, and guidance for less experienced staff.
Directs resources effectively and efficiently to achieve the desired business results including proactively identifying and managing issues that may impact the project scope, timeline, or deliverables.
Monitors project schedules and costs for own and other projects.
Designs and manages studies as requested by internal and external clients for purposes of ensuring accreditation, improving health, supporting sales, and analyzing business opportunities and identifying areas for improvement.
Applies broad knowledge, experience, and insight to make smart decisions and recommendations.
Cultivates positive professional & interpersonal relationships with various stakeholders.
Effectively uses coaching, influencing, negotiation, and persuasion in interpersonal interactions.
Understands complex problems quickly, proposes solutions, and provides clear direction.
Undertakes complex assignments and projects requiring additional specialized technical knowledge including data warehouse structures and application of database query tools.
Assures quality and integrity of data collected, analysis performed, and reports generated.
Develops methods for improving internal techniques and processes.
Utilizes multiple data systems to accomplish objectives.
Requires a BS/BA degree.
Minimum of 8 years of experience
Experience in healthcare data and data analysis required.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experience
Understanding of multiple data sources and formats and excellent knowledge and understanding of data warehouse structures, data flows and standard business intelligence tools and programming/query languages is strongly preferred.
Understanding of cloud architectures for analytics solution with experience with the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or analytics in AWS preferred
Understanding of and experience with cloud databases including Snowflake preferred.
Experience with SQL or equivalent preferred.
Experience using Tableau, Looker, or equivalent business intelligence visualization tools to develop advanced analytics applications.
Excellent leadership, problem solving, organizational, planning, presentation and interpersonal skills preferred.
Advanced degree in business, information technology, science, or health research is preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the organization including executives is strongly preferred.
